Official eBay Auctions of Ben-related Items from Nadine Murphy’s home Scroll down for January 2009 update....... As many of you know, Ben’s mother, Nadine Murphy, passed away in 2006. Ben recently sold her house in Arkansas and, while sorting through her belongings, Ben found a large collection of photographs, paintings and clippings that she had collected. Most of these items are about Ben, including family photographs with Ben in them, photographs from Ben’s career, and magazine and newspaper articles about Ben. On some of these items, Nadine had even jotted notes in the margins or on the back, giving more information about the item. There are also some items about Ben’s relatives, such as pictures of his brother, his parents and his grandparents, and paintings by his mother or collected by his mother. Ben has authorized the sale of these items via eBay. They will be listed under my eBay seller id, which is “mommobile.” There are approximately 50 items in total, ranging from small, wallet-size photographs to large framed paintings. To be sure that everyone has a fair chance to bid on and possibly win the auction for an item, I will be placing about 5-10 items at a time on eBay. I will space these auction listings over the coming months so that people who want to buy more than one item will have time to save up for future items. For security, I will only accept payment via PayPal on these items. I can not accept personal checks, money orders or credit cards. PayPal is a secure payment clearing center that keeps the buyer’s and the seller’s financial information confidential from each other. If you plan to bid but you do not have a PayPal account, you’ll want to go set one up at www.PayPal.com. If you win one of these auctions on eBay, the eBay system will automatically bring you over to PayPal and guide you through making your payment to me. (My PayPal account is info@benmurphyfans.com.) I will be shipping via the US Postal Service, Priority Mail for shipments in the US, and International Priority Mail for shipments outside of the US. I will make all of the small and medium items available in the US and also internationally. However, I will not be offering the larger items to international buyers just because of the difficulty and risk of shipping a large, bulky item outside of the country. Items will be listed on eBay during the following months: November 2008 - completed January 2009 -- Beginning January 1, 2009, and continuing for 10 days March 2009
UPDATE -- JANUARY 2009 AUCTIONS
The next batch of items from Nadine Murphy's estate will be available for bidding on eBay beginning January 1, 2009. There are 8 items in this batch, and they each have a special bonus audio clip. When preparing these items for eBay, I spoke to Ben by phone to ask him a little about the background for each item. I recorded the phone call and then edited the recording into short audio clips, one for each item. Each person who wins one of these items will receive an audio clip of Ben discussing their item. The audio clips will be Microsoft wav files which will be e-mailed to you win the bidding on an item. Please ensure that you can download and listen to .wav files on your computer before bidding on an item. I can make no guarantees that the audio clip will definitely run on your computer. If you would like to test this in advance, please send an e-mail to info@benmurphyfans.com to request a test audio clip. I will send you back a short (10 second clip) which you can test on your computer before bidding. The actual audio clips which will accompany the winning auctions range from 1 minute to 5.5 minutes, depending on the item. The length of each clip is mentioned in each auction item description. Sometimes e-mails do not get through properly. Please know that I will answer every e-mail so if you write to ask for a test audio clip and I do not respond, it means I did not get the e-mail. Also, I have tried to make this fair and offered all but one of the items (which is just too large) International locations as well as the US. I'm not positive that I set up the International Shipping options correctly so if you are outside the US and encounter any difficulty in bidding, please send an e-mail to info@benmurphyfans.com to let me know and I'll try to fix it. The shipping fees associated with each auction item reflect the actual cost of shipping these items to your location. Some are quite large and/or heavy and the shipping fees reflect that. There is no "profit" being made on the shipping fees, and the proceeds from the items themselves are all going to charity, per Ben's instructions. To learn more about the charity selected, read the Blog entry of Dec. 6, 2008. To see the items up for auction, go to www.eBay.com. Then click on Advanced Search, then Search by Seller ID, and then enter the seller id: mommobile.
